Surah Al-Anbiya, Verse 30:

أَوَلَمْ يَرَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَنَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنَاهُمَا وَجَعَلْنَا مِنَ الْمَاءِ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَيٍّ أَفَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

Do not those who disbelieve see that the heavens and the earth were one mass, and we tore them apart; and We have made of water everything living, will they not then believe?


Surah Al-Anbiya, Verse 31:

وَجَعَلْنَا فِي الْأَرْضِ رَوَاسِيَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِهِمْ وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا فِجَاجًا سُبُلًا لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ

And We have made great mountains in the earth lest it might be convulsed with them, and We have made in it wide ways that they may follow a right direction.


 Surah Al-Anbiya, Verse 32:

وَجَعَلْنَا السَّمَاءَ سَقْفًا مَّحْفُوظًا وَهُمْ عَنْ آيَاتِهَا مُعْرِضُونَ

And We have made the heaven a guarded canopy and (yet) they turn aside from its signs.


Surah Al-Anbiya, Verse 33:

وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ كُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ

And He it is Who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; each floating in the orbit.

Surah Adh-Dzariyat, Verse 47:

وَالسَّمَاءَ بَنَيْنَاهَا بِأَيْدٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ

And the heaven, We constructed it with power, and most surely it is expanding.

A Message In An Evaluation Form

Borang penilaian untuk tahun 2015 yang aku hantar pada suku ke-4 tahun lepas aku tulis komen yang tak berapa macam komen.

Dimulakan dengan pandangan jujur diselangi puji-pujian tersembunyi serta menyatakan rasa syukur, kemudian puji-pujian untuk diri sendiri sebagai percubaan melobi markah penilaian, kemudian komen untuk menjustifikasi tindakan mengambil cuti dalam tahun tersebut terutama cuti kecemasan dan terlebih cuti yang sangat sangat sangat sangat diberatkan oleh pihak pengurusan yang tahapnya begini - walau sebaik mana prestasi kerja dan berdedikasi pun, isu cuti dan kehadiran adalah penentu dalam kenaikan pangkat, kenaikan gaji dan bonus tahunan.

Tapi tujuan sebenar justification comment yang aku tulis adalah untuk menyampaikan pandangan dan mesej kepada pihak pengurusan supaya dapat memperbaiki kelemahan yang ditekankan dalam komen tersebut.

Harap-harap ada yang bijak dan dapat menghadam mesej tersebut.

Harap-harap ada yang berani melakukan perubahan.

Dan semalam, setelah berdialog di lorong belakang bersama dua lagi rakan ibu termasuk blogger Kak Julie, aku rasa ini sebenarnya masalah yang berlaku di semua tempat.

Jadi setelah difikir-fikir (dari tahun lepas fikir) aku rasa eloklah aku terbitkan di sini.

Dengan harapan kalaupun tiada perubahan di tempat aku pun, moga-moga mampu menjentik minda mereka yang mungkin ada access untuk perubahan tersebut walaupun di tempat lain.

Inilah apa yang aku tulis dalam ruang komen dalam borang penilaian tersebut:


2015 is surely a hard year - with the oil price crisis and the currency drop. Not to mention many other glitches make it even harder. Companies in the industry are downsizing the expenditure. I know that our organization is not excluded.

Despite the ‘horror stories’ I heard from other organization, the working environment in our organization especially in the department seems quite normal. Everyone have works to do and as usual we are trying to deliver the best that we could. Everyone play their parts.

In such a difficult time, to be in this kind of working environment is something I should be grateful.

Yet improvement is an unceasing affair. Along with drafting and design skill my understanding and knowledge of instrumentation just getting better - thanks to my colleague xx (xx. engineer) via the xx xx Program.

Being able to decide and solving the problems as well as providing solution to others make the works more exciting. Now I am not just like my work, I love it instead. Also many thanks for the trust that my superior gave me when he let me handle the works on my own as I view it as a recognition of my ability.

Anyway, the belief of a good employee is the one who has none or less EL (emergency leave) is something that I think should be redefined as it is a ‘one size fits all’ sort of rule.

In my opinion this dogma has discriminate the group of working mothers especially those who have toddler and infant children. Doing our best at work, contributing good ideas, playing a good teammate, very committed, proactive and dedicated, then unfortunately our infant and toddler fall sick and we know that they need proper care then we know that we have to take leave and it is a fact that children falling sick is unpredictable.

Case studies, just few weeks before 2015 my infant son who was 4 months old spent one week in the hospital after a five-days fever. He got a blood infection – something that might bring fatality.

The worst part was few days before the diagnosis I was still sending him to the nursery thinking that he would be fine after taking the medicine. I was trying not to take EL, reserving some leaves for the next year in an attempt to avoid taking excessive leave and I had no idea how serious his condition was as he was still feeding and playing happily.

What a selfish act I have done just to live up to the rule.

Then his hospitalization trigger my thought and there are few lessons I have learned after years;

-that to deliver a good quality of work and having improved in skill and knowledge may not be well recognized if we have series of EL even if it has never been misused. In the evaluation, it is the number that matter, not the purpose.

-that the perception may somehow has indirectly violates the right of the children to receive proper care from their employed parents.

-that to be a good parent one may have to be a ‘bad’ employee.

I wish that the evaluation on the area concerning attendance and EL will be conducted equitably, and the perception will be improved in the near future and reflecting us as a civilized group.

Inovasi

satu-satunya lauk makan malam tadi.

Incek papa: Masak apa ni ma?

Pn mama: Entah. Belum bagi nama.

Minggu ni ramai ahli kelab yang tak sihat dan sebagai caretaker aku kena pastikan diet mereka sihat dan tidak memudaratkan penyakit masing-masing.

Itu hari dah buat sup ayam. Sup daging pun sudah. Mi sup pun sudah. Semua tak berminyak dan tidak pedas. Betul-betul patuh arahan doktor.

Tiba-tiba mati akal nak masak apa. Hari-hari makan sup jernih. Takut pulak ahli kelab naik bosan.

Godek-godek peti sejuk jumpa isi ayam dan daun bawang yang dicilok secara halal dari pasu mak mertua. Hehe.

Hiris bawang hiris halia, tumiskan dengan minyak seminima mungkin. Terjunkan daging ayam, tabur serbuk kunyit, kacau-kacau dan tuang air untuk kuah.

Tabur garam, tabur daun bawang.

Tada... siap. 5 minit.

Oh ya, pastikan guna api besar.

Hidangkan dengan nasi lembik atau bubur nasi.

Lunch Hari Ini

Sup malam tadi ada lebih sikit.

Pagi ni top up sup dan telur.

Bekalkan untuk si leng chai dan leng lui itu juga.

Mamanya punya ada kicap dengan cili potong. Anak-anak punya kosong tanpa aksesori. Cuma ayam dan telur jadi penyeri.

Tapi...

Bila dah top up sup rupanya mama lupa

tambah

garam.

Kepada Kamu yang Takutkan Kebenaran

Hari ni aku baru tahu Dr. Zakir Naik nampaknya tidak dialu-alukan di Malaysia.

Alasan yang diberikan? Kau gugel lah sendiri. Macam-macam.

Tapi kamu, kamu, dan kamu yang menghalang, tahukah kamu setiap point yang diberikan oleh beliau (Dr. Zakir) adalah berdasarkan bukti.

Islam adalah agama yang berdasarkan bukti. Dari segi saintifiknya, maksud aku kalau dari segi saintifiknya segala hipotesis perlu ada bukti (melalui eksperimen), Islam adalah agama yang paling saintifik.

Kalau tak ada bukti jangan banyak cerita. You have proof then you can talk.

Jadi apa yang nak ditakutkan?

Melainkan kamu, kamu, dan kamu takutkan kebenaran.

This is the only man on earth I know who has elevated the Vedas and Upanishad. Apa nak takut?

Kalaulah kita benar-benar ingin mewujudkan keharmonian antara kaum, lets have a talk.

He is talking about the similarities between us. The thing that can make us feel indifference.

Kalau benar kamu dari golongan yang mencari kebenaran, I dare you to go and listen to him. Oh ya, ask him anything. And ask him to prove his claims.

And if you do (dare to listen), please bear in mind that I and many others are not asking you to search for Islam, I just want you to listen and compare.

Dan lagi, kepada kamu yang kononnya muslim dan menghalang, tiada apa yang aku nak kata.

Cuma tolong dengar apa yang Allah kata:

Surah Al-Kahf,

Verse

54:

وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا فِي هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنِ لِلنَّاسِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍ وَكَانَ الْإِنسَانُ أَكْثَرَ شَيْءٍ جَدَلًا

We have elaborated in this Quran for the people every kind of example, but the human being is a most argumentative being.

55:

وَمَا مَنَعَ النَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا إِذْ جَاءَهُمُ الْهُدَىٰ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّهُمْ إِلَّا أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ سُنَّةُ الْأَوَّلِينَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ قُبُلًا

What prevented people from accepting faith, when guidance has come to them, and from seeking their Lord's forgiveness? Unless they are waiting for the precedent of the ancients to befall them, or to have the punishment come upon them face to face.

56:

وَمَا نُرْسِلُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ وَيُجَادِلُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِالْبَاطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا بِهِ الْحَقَّ وَاتَّخَذُوا آيَاتِي وَمَا أُنذِرُوا هُزُوًا

We send the messengers only as deliveres of good news and warners. Those who disbelieve argue with false argument, in order to defeat the truth thereby. They take My Verses, and the warnings, for a joke.

57:

وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن ذُكِّرَ بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهَا وَنَسِيَ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا وَإِن تَدْعُهُمْ إِلَى الْهُدَىٰ فَلَن يَهْتَدُوا إِذًا أَبَدًا

Who does greater wrong than he, who, when reminded of his Lords revelations, turns away from them, and forgets what his hands have put forward? We have placed coverings over their hearts, lest they understand it, and heaviness in their ears. And if you call them to guidance, they will not be guided, ever.

58:

وَرَبُّكَ الْغَفُورُ ذُو الرَّحْمَةِ لَوْ يُؤَاخِذُهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوا لَعَجَّلَ لَهُمُ الْعَذَابَ بَل لَّهُم مَّوْعِدٌ لَّن يَجِدُوا مِن دُونِهِ مَوْئِلًا

And Your Lord is the Forgiver, Possessor of Mercy. Were He to call them to account for what they have earned, He would have hastened the punishment for them. But they have an appointment from which they will find no escape.
